My beloved Mama and Mami, couldnt make it to my birthday and had promised me a dinner that week. On top of that they treated me to a Musical!!! It was just mind blowing. Priscilla in the middle of town, in one of those big venues we always walk past and admire:
But today's post is about the meal we had before.
We had to pick a place round the corner of the theatre, and we found this Malaysian place:
My Mama has spent a fair time in Malaysia, so we didn't even glance at the menu, but allowed him to order freely.
Our drinks of Fresh orange juice and lichee ice:
Squid Sambal:
Beef:
YUMMY beans and some white rice:
was SUPERB, even in malaysia i had not known what to order, so hadnt had such dishes...so was a SUPER double treat for me :D :D
And thus ends my bday celebrations! (amanis bday coming up next)

Mum's Bengali Trout Bake Recipe
Haven't posted a recipe in ages! As promised, here is the Rainbow trout I made at my post bday lunch!
Ingredients:
1. Whole Rainbow Trout
2. Onions (2 large ones per fish)
3. Turmeric (1 teaspoon or more according to your taste)
4. Chilli Powder (same)
5. Lemon
6. Tomatos (2 per fish)
7. Coriander
I didn't follow Mum's recipe to the dot, but this is the basic jist:
1. Cut Onions and tomatoes, then marinate the whole fish and onions and tomatoes together in turmeric, chilli and salt. Squeeze half a lemon/lime on them and mix well (but delicately.) Yes I used my hands for it, as it serves best for the purpose, but WARNING fingers will turn yellow!!
2. Preheat over to 120 and bake for 10-15 mins and turn, then bake another 10-15.
3. Sprinkle some coriander over your dish
ET VOILA!!

Shishawi- Edgware Road
It's Surprising, me being the food buff I am actually ate nOTHING on the day of my birthday. I had woken up so late, had to rush to buy groceries and then head straight to the AR Rahman concert (details on my music blog on that.)
And after the Rahman show we went to see Hed Kandi live, so basically by the time we ate it was 5am...
We were thinking of going to Chinatown but ended up in Edgeware Road at Shishawi which was our usual hangout afterhours when I lived in London. And lo and behold, guess who we saw there! 2 of my friends who were supposed to meet us at Hed Kandi and had backed out! lol. How Bangi are we that we bump into people at 5am in London! hahaha..
Appetiser of my FAVOURITE: Grilled Haloomi Cheese
Humus:
Chicken Shish Tauk:
Lamb Shwarma:
Yum Sauces:
Crazy 5am eaters:
