Whenever Guruji Nana is around I seem to enjoy some authentic Indian food somehow or the other.

This time Tripty Khala made some Dhokla. it was soft, spicy and perfect.

Some sweets from India :)

Eid Day 2: Meal by Chef Rimi Khala and desert @ Amherst Creperie

hehe. i like the title of this post. So the closest family I have in Boston is my mejo khala who lives in Amherst. And of Course, that's where I went for Eid celebrations. Additionally Noton Mama from Australia was visiting so it was a full house!

Chopping and peeling and setting up the BBQ

Food in preparation:

And done?

So we had some Salad and Chicken for appetiser:
From Eid in Amherst

And the main course: Biryani

my plate:

(I obviously took some back to Boston hehe)

The coolest part about this Eid was that we spent it outside in the yard!

Why don't we add that to our rituals (only winter for Dhaka)? Being a complete city girl with no ties with nature, I get this unique feeling whenever I'm near the real mother nature. And I love it!!

So thank you Chef Rimi Khala for a GREAT Eid meal, amongst green and family:D

OKAY! AND THEN (if that wasn't enough) we went off to a SUPERB desert place in Amherst called Amherst Creperie. And TRULY, (though I'm not a "sweets" person) this was the BEST crepe I've EVER had!!!!

The grownup's had the fruit crepe with Choco Ice cream:

Cuzzies had sth I dont know with chocolate syrup: (hehe)

And i had a custom made: Crepes with Butter and maple syrup with Caramel Ice cream (yep i like it SWEEEEET)

And of course we shared (but that was only because we were so stuffed from the Biryani, or else H*ll NO!)

And THAT concludes my first Eid in the US. It was the first day since I got here, that I cried 'cos I was missing my parents and homies, But I must admit, My Eid here was pretty amazing.

The Otherside Cafe

Located by my school, on Newbury Street, this is a trendy cafe with good food and drink to offer. http://www.theothersidecafe.com/ (I sound like an add don't I? I guess I've become way more concious of my blog writing since I've been getting a fair show of audience lately. Of course I love, but I'm no longer talking to myself!)

Went there with Berklee Alum, the lovely Ruthie, who has been so kind and generous to help me out with move to Boston.

We shared Nacho's with quacamole :

Turkey Club Sandwhich:

and Desert of Dark Chocolate with Fruits (this one wasn't that good):

It's the general cafe prices in downtown boston, but I was luckily treated that day :D

Chef Saima's Kitchen (1)- Bengali Dinner with guest appearance by Chef Azaan Akbar

Saima Akbar is one great chef. In fact, I'm hoping we'll all hear of her more soon, on a more public level. She's my khala (ie mom's friend) and ive been eating from her kitchen for years now, and in one word her food is always "Delicious!"

My month in London was spent very near her place so I would frequently end up there for dinner. This is occasion number 1.

The weirdo who came to pick me up :

The Chef in her spic and span kitchen:

And a vase i randomly found pretty :D

A beautiful moment before our yummy meal, when Esh was pouring the water:

The dishes we were about to devour:

                                                                                    Perfectly cooked Basmati...what a pleasure:

Rui Mach Jhol: (Curry)

Beef Curry (made by someone else)

The highlight of my night, the AMAZING mushroom bhaji, i could have eaten the whole thing but felt that i shouldn't deprive the others:

And of course, Some Daal:

Another special treat that night was Chef Azaan Akbars Belgian Waffle..mmmm

Melting of the chocolate:

Et Voila:

Waiting to see Both of these Akbars be famous for their amazing hands at cooking!

Birthday Brunch!

I'll start off my blog, with today's eating activities: a friend's surprise party. The guests (us) and his wife, arranged a lovely decorated party with assorted main dishes and deserts:

We had main courses from Ghoroa Restaurant of Parata, Chicken Roast, 2 kinds of Beef Kabab and Polau rice. But my favourite part of lunch was the olive oil dipped mozzarella! YUM. i had like 5, and it tasted good with the shahi food!

This is the chocolate mousse cake I got :-)
And a beautiful soft mango souffle brought by another friend. It was Perfect, real mango flavour with a shortbread crust..

This was my favourite of the evening: Assorted Cupcakes from Sunshine Bakery. Soooo Good! The colours ones were normal coloured icing, but the white ones were this cool-whip typish softer icing.
I had half a turquoise one and half a white one!

Was quite a colourful spread, thus I thought I'd use it for the first post :-)

Hope you guys liked it, feel free to leave comments.

My new single Graceland!
