Shrimp Avocado Sandwhich @ Pret

The best sandwhich I ever had in my life is the Chicken Avocado by Pret a Manger. Sadly the day I went, they were out. But we had the shrimp avocado instead, and it was bare!!! :D

"Zerin" Chicken

My friend Zerin (featured before in the Birthday Lunch Post) was making iftaar for the first day of Ramadan. Of course being the Bangis we are, she was making rice and chicken, which we ended up eating at 3am Hehehehehee. (i'm a bad influence)

I call this dish "Zerin Chicken" 'cos I actually made it in the order she does another day (coming soon). Zerin Chicken is basically the usual Bengali chicken curry, but in Zerin's order of putting ingredients. In this case, she used the masala very lightly and covered the chicken allowing it to be a light gravy curry. Also she added Coriander towards the end:

My beloved coriander:

Prawn Malai Curry by Bahanaz

This is undoubtedly the BEST malai curry I ever had, and I'm not just saying that because its Bahanaz.

Ms Sahana Bajpie had invited me over for a night spend, the way we would in Dhaka and then again in Santiniketon. In Dhaka, it was her great cook, and in Santiniketon is was her amazing mom's cooking (ohhh Doi mach how I miss thee!), but London meant Ma'm had to cook herself! Yay! I almost finger licked the bowl...

She has kindly given us her recipe for my readers:

1. Fry Onions with Garam Masala, Elach and Long (cardamom and clove)
2. Add chilli powder, turmeric and ginger paste
3. Add prawns (pre cooked)
4. Add double cream till it boils
5. Add coconut milk.

cooking by candlelight:

And some Chicken Vindaloo (readymade) and Bahanaz's Daal with the malai:

I started with the daal in the spirit of West Bengal:

The Hare and the Tortoise

This cute Asian restaurant was unexpected from it's name, as I was expecting a pub (since the British like to name their pubs by animal.) But Sham insisted it was good, and she was so in the know.
It had a range of Malaysian and Chinese food as well as some Sushi. We went to Putney branch,as we were visiting Uz (who also treated me, THANKOO)

For interested parties: http://www.hareandtortoise.co.uk

Rasheeq Bhaiyas cucumber, blah blah healthy juice, it wasnt half Bad actually!

I had been craving duck and rice:

Sham had CURRY LAKSA (Malaysian Dish previously blogged about)

A very Bangi style dish, called Malaysian Curry (YUMM)

The Flop dish of the night, Something from the Specials: some beef noodle thing, was pretty bad:

I totally recommend this place, because most entrees are around 5-6 pounds and go upto 8-9! And quantity is Perfect!!

Busaba Ethai At Bond Street

I first went to this lovely place for Uz's Bday and have loved it. It's not pure authentic but close enough. The place is one of those, where there are benches and your share the benches with other customers. It's crazy busy and bustling and frankly a bit too loud for a araam dinner. But the food is GREAT.

So we had a 6pm lunch hehe with all my Bangi mates.

Drinks: (Thai Lemonade and pomengrade juice i think! lemonade was not fresh, so wasnt so happy about it.)

Waiting for the food we stared at the Sauces:

And it Arrives:

Masuman Duck Curry:

Jungle Curry (its supposed to be Really Hot, but for us Bangis its pretty okay)

Chicken wrapped in Banana Leaf:

What i go to Busaba for: The fabulous Green Curry

Asparagus fried rice:

My mate Bun was coming over to jam for a open mic stint we pulled in Charlotte Street so I made a quick lunch, while we sat and jammed..

In the mean time fried some Tuna steaks with a bit of garlic and salt (they kinda broke off)

Lightly fried some potatoes, in salt, pepper and a little chilli powder:

Added some spinach once the potatos were done:
