ShaatRong, Bengali Ala Carte to the Finest at Srimongol

YAY We reached 60,000 hits today! Just when I'm about to post one my favourite meals of 2012.

Shaatrong is this amazing little restaurant in Srimongol which mainly features the 7 layer tea on the outside but is the BEST homemade'ish food, and one of the best places to eat in Srimongol. It was at this meal me and huckleberry friend were commenting on how we tend to search the whole world for food that tastes like our home.

And it did! Those of you who have seen my Mum's cooking can tell from the pictures.

The food was made a'la carte so we had to wait a bit of time. In the meantime we sat outside and enjoyed the 8 degrees weather and a cup of tea

And THEN came the food, Fresh from the stove (the only way it should be) and all at once!

Bless Bangladeshi restaurants for Always serving salad, although it did not prevent me from gaining 2 kgs on this trip, STILL it's always fresh, nicely placed and FREE. (Learn something 12 dollar salad servers)

Niramish , what a fresh beauty !!
it was perfect and not overcooked at all, with the light spices.

                                                                                Daal Bhorta

Tomato Bhorta!! Oh this was perfection, with the sweet tomatos, the hint of coriander and onions making the great combination.

Alu Bhorta

The light Jhol Murgi was perfect!

And the most beautiful thing of all time: Gorom Gorom Shada Bhaat

Steaming Gorom Bhaat

I love my bhaat shots hehe

We ended up ordering there again (when I fell a bit sick) but it wasnt the same. This must be had in the cool sunshine winter's day, fresh from the kitchen

Roadside Nasta (breakfast)

I got to visit Srimongol this year! En route we stopped an hour before Srimongol at a small hotel for breakfast. It was pretty decent! (not as good as the deema parata near Cotic Cruise's anchor,  but decent)

The standard breakfast is Parata and Deem here, but they had some veggies sitting out which we ordered (cold)

(This is the point in my Bangladesh trip that I gained SO MUCH weight, so enjoyyyy, hehe)

The Booth which was beautiful

Recipe: Simple Red Snapper and Salad

This is one of my favourite and simplest meals:

                   Recipe for Snapper:

1. Take the fillet and cover in salt and chilli powder
2. Warm Pan on high heat with olive oil
3. Fry on skin side till almost done
4. Turn off heat fry the other side for a minute and take off

Salad:

1. Mix together cabbage, sliced pepper, lettuce, cucumber
2. Add any dress you like (I had blue cheese cos i'm fatty :P)

Et Voila. It was a small meal (I was doing no carb, small meal diet for a week and I actually lost a lot of weight) (But I gained it all back the next week)

Thanksgiving at Izumi (top 5 restaurants in Dhaka)

Thanksgiving dinner with my beloved at Izumi:

This is one of my top restaurants in Dhaka. The Beef was perfect (but i recommend not taking out, better fresh at the restaurant) the roll was pretty good, sashimi was EXCELLENT. I'm not a creamy Udon person, but my bite was pretty good.

For such an elaborate Thanksgiving meal which we overordered as always, the bill was decent for such high end food (between 4-5000 Taka each) (If you eat like normal humans, can be 2k onwards) (of course if you order teh 15k Kobe Beef, well then thats another story)

Anyway my pictures didnt come out so great because I was so eager to eat the food.  Hehe. Thanks to my Mum and Huckleberry friend for a wonderful Thanksgiving dinner.

My new single Graceland!
